Last year, our editors Mia Trenbeath and Aneesha Needamangala submitted The Hoot to the REALM Awards. REALM (Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines) publicly recognizes literary magazines produced by students, with the goal of encouraging “all schools to develop literary magazines that celebrate the art and craft of writing”.
The Results from 2024 are in, and we won Superior Class, the second highest class possible! This is an incredible achievement considering it was our first submission to the contest.
We (the current editors, Sofy Aguilar Ehrli and Alice Zhang) want to congratulate anyone who was a part of The Hoot’s Printed Edition last year and your contributions to our incredible achievement! Additionally, we want to thank Aneesha and Mia for making this award possible for The Hoot, and leaving a lasting legacy on this publication and the people within it.
